Great race. For my first marathon I can't complain. I felt really good the day of the race.

7 minute miles down the length of the canyon was fast but I loved the feeling I was having running the first half knowing I was going faster than the goal time. We had some great conversations along the course. We found out that we were running with a world class runner in his time.

The canyon was beautiful and the downhills were exhilarating. I felt good because I gave it everything I had and didn't find myself at the finish thinking that I could have gone faster or harder. My training partner Cody was a great help for me and has a lot of heart. I know he was really hurting at the end but he pushed through it and somehow found the heart to pull away the last mile while I was slowly dying on my feet. I am very happy with the results, breaking our goal time by 7+ minutes. I have something to look forward to next year where I want to qualify for Boston then break 180 minutes.

I'LL BE BACK!

Dan's the Man!!

I never would have kept the pace from miles 20-26 without you. "Pain is temporary, pride is forever." "Always be happy, but not satisfied." Let's break 3 hours!

Welcome to the blog, and congratulations on a great race!

Nice job. I live in Logan too, so hopefully we can all get together and run sometime. I imagine the world class runner you ran with was Demetrio Sr.; I saw him finish right around 3:15 or so.

Went running on the River Trail in Logan.

It was a great run.

Approximately 10 miles in 1:13:20.

The leaves on the ground gave the trail a surreal look and it was neat to see the colors change as we ran up the trail.

Ran the Green Canyon trail starting at Lundstrom Park with the turn around at the top of Green Canyon were the trail turns to single track.

Approximately 13+ miles round trip.

41.5 minutes down.

The run felt really good.

I wished I could have run up the canyon a little faster, even though it has a 1600 foot elevation gain.

Hopefully this will become the second workout in my two-a-days.

Ran the true 8 mile course that we modified to make it exactly 8.

55:35

6:57 min/mile pace.

I felt good when I stopped but Cody had to encourage me to stay on his shoulder on the last 3/4 mile.

We want to keep our fast mile workouts to a 7 minute or below pace.

We need to find that break through moment and find the speed.

Nice work Dan, that sure was fun flying that last mile. I looked at my watch tonight and saw that it said 55:25 not 55:35 so that was a 6:20 final mile. Beautiful!

Very good training this week. Now that you have recovered from TOU, work on gradually bringing your mileage to 60 miles a week. Start by "the day does not end until I've run 8", then make it 9, then make it 10 as you feel ready, but always allow yourself at least three weeks to get used to the new daily mileage.

Ran the Green Canyon route with my son on the bicycle behind me mapping out the distance. I found out that it is about 1/2 mile shorter than what I had estamated in my truck.

Trevor had a pretty good workout. He was breathing pretty hard and had some trouble on the steep parts but, he made it the whole way and was very happy that he went and told me how beautiful he thought the canyon was.

Cody and I wanted to do something a little different today. We want to make our fast miles be under 7/mile. We mapped out a fairly flat run that would give us 10 miles and made the goal to do it under 70 minutes.

We did and it felt good.

7 miles with Cody to the High School and 2x200m striders.

My knee was acting up today and I feel it especially when I stop then start again. It happens pretty regular on this run when we are crossing 2nd North.

I had to bail out of the 2nd strider and dropped to a jog after 100 meters because of the pain. But after jogging for a half mile or so the pain was barable and we were able to stay under out 7min/mile goal
